Philippines: Citibank Savings & Award-Winning Educator Dr. Queena Lee-Chua Launch "Take Charge of Your Money"
Manila Citibank Savings aims to demystify financial and wealth planning through its new "Take Charge of Your Money" financial education seminar series.
Designed to help clients and members of the public better manage their money to build a secure financial future, the seminar covers five subject areas including:
- Budgeting – Key topics include how to determine good spending habits (based on income) and financial goal setting for the near and long-term future.
- The Magic Of Compounding – This seminar highlights the wisdom of saving for the future (as early as possible) to enjoy the benefits of compound interest.
- Inflation – A session that illustrates how money, if not managed well, can lose its value over time.
- Saving and Investing – An overview of the many savings and investment options available in the local market today.
- Setting Financial Goals – Members of the audience are asked to review short-term, medium-term and long-term goals, and how they can better prepare for them.
"Many people carry a misconception that wealth planning is only for the super rich, but this is not the case," said Mr. Mark Jones, Citibank Savings chairman and Country Business Manager of Citibank Philippines.
"Financial planning principles and best practices are relevant to all people. While many people think they need more money, what they actually need is a new system to manage their funds and this seminar series aims to point many customers in the right financial direction."
To develop the seminar series, Citibank Savings enlisted the expertise of multi-award winning educator, writer and columnist, Dr. Queena Lee-Chua. In terms of content, Dr. Lee-Chua incorporated many realistic case studies and simple charts and plans.
"Money management is not rocket science. In its crudest form, financial planning is all about identifying a point A, where you are now, and a point B, where you want to be," said Dr. Chua.
"I was very happy to work with Citi on this project and I enjoyed creating materials and content to help people who have little, or no financial education."
The talks will be held in Citibank Savings' 36 branches nationwide, as well as a number of venues in neighboring communities.
