Dallas Mayor Recognizes Citibank Texas and its Community Commitment
Dallas, TX – Citibank Texas announced today it has received special recognition from Dallas Mayor Laura Miller and Mayor Pro Tem Don Hill for its role as a good corporate citizen and the company’s strong commitment to the community. The acknowledgment comes at a time when Citibank is expanding its locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth market with a focus on areas undergoing economic revitalization.
“Citibank is going into areas that other banks haven’t focused on and they deserve recognition for leading the way in redeveloping our urban areas,” said Mayor Pro Tem Don Hill. “They have also done an incredible job of meeting and getting involved with the community. I am especially impressed with their financial education program that is being offered throughout the Metroplex by partnering with many community organizations.”
Citibank opened two new branches in Oak Cliff last year on Fort Worth Avenue and Lancaster-Kiest. In addition, a new branch opened in Pleasant Grove along South Buckner Boulevard. The impact in those communities is already being felt.
“Many business owners and community leaders have commented on how they see the community positively changing because of our presence,” said Ciff Whisenhunt, Dallas Market Manager, Citibank Texas. “Our emphasis in the Dallas market is in neighborhoods that have traditionally been underserved. When we open a new location, financial education is a key component. We have many clients who have never opened a bank account and are looking for a bank they can trust.”
Citibank currently has 31 locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Every location holds quarterly financial education seminars, which are free and open to the public. The next seminar, “IRAs & Your Retirement Dreams,” is scheduled for March 8, 2007.
In 2006, the Citigroup Foundation awarded $3.1 million in grants and Citigroup awarded $1 million in sponsorships to charitable and non-profit organizations in communities across Texas to support financial education, general education, child development, and community development programs.
Citibank has 120 Financial Centers in Texas. Citigroup has 17,000 employees in Texas serving in the following business units: Citibank Texas, Smith Barney, Citibank's Sales and Service Center in San Antonio, CitiFinancial International, CitiFinancial, CitiFinancial Auto, Citicorp Trust Bank, FSB, Citigroup's Equipment Finance Group unit, Citi Cards, CitiMortgage, CitiStreet, the Citigroup Private Bank, Citigroup Corporate and Investment Banking, and CitiAssurance Services.
