Students Succeed in Citibank Colombia's Financial Education Program

On March 13, Franco Moccia, President of Citibank-Colombia S. A. delivered the medal “Outstanding Student – Finance for a Change” to 23 students from 12 high schools in Ciudad Bolivar (Bogota).

During the event, Moccia addressed the audience and encouraged the students to put into practice the skills learned in the program regarding finances and administration of resources. He also motivated the students to work hard to make their dreams come true. “We’re very proud of this financial educational program as it allows us to contribute in reducing the gap between population groups. Fostering good personal financial practices help to improve housing, health and education conditions among the community,” stated Moccia.

Finance for a Change is an initiative in personal finance education, which has benefited over 15,000 persons in the cities of Bogotá, Cartagena and Medellin. The program covers subjects related to savings, investments, financial planning, credit, and budget management.

“This project has taught me the importance of savings in our personal finances in order to have a better quality of life. If we do not manage our own finances and are not able to save, it will be hard to improve our living standards,” explained Jeniffer Rocío Sánchez, one of the young beneficiaries from Minuto de Buenos Aires School.

This important event took place on March 13, 2007, in the Guillermo Cano Isaza School in the city of Bogotá (Ciudad Bolivar), and among the attendees of the ceremony was Franco Moccia, President of Citibank Colombia; Jaime Humberto López, President of Colfondos; Juana Inés Diaz Tafur, Vice-Minister of Preschool, Primary and Middle School; Liliana Malambo, Assistant Secretary of Finance and Planning for the Secretary of District Education; and Maria del Rosario Sintes, Executive Director of Dividend for Colombia Foundation.
