National Urban League Elects Ajay Banga to Board of Trustees
 
New York – The National Urban League (NUL) today announced that Ajay Banga, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Citigroup’s Global Consumer Group- International, has been elected to its Board of Trustees. Mr. Banga is strongly committed to supporting NUL’s mission to empower African-Americans to enter the economic and social mainstream.

Together, we have accomplished a lot, and I look forward to our continued relationship.”

As Chairman and CEO of Citigroup’s Global Consumer Group International businesses, Mr. Banga’s responsibilities include all credit card, retail banking, and consumer finance operations in Asia, Japan, Europe/Middle East/Africa, Latin America, and Mexico. Previously he served as an Executive Vice President of the Global Consumer Group and President of Retail Banking North America.
 
Mr. Banga is a member of Citigroup’s Business Heads, Operating, and Management Committees, and co-head of the Global Consumer Group’s Planning Committee. Mr. Banga is also a member of the Financial Services Roundtable, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the New York Hall of Science, and Citigroup’s business sponsor to the African American Employee Heritage Network. He is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad, India. In 2004, Citigroup and The National Urban League announced a national partnership to launch a financial education program in seven U.S. cities - New York, Rochester, Chicago, Hartford, Los Angeles, San Diego and Sacramento. The program provides training on basic banking, money management, saving, investing, and credit.
 
This year, the Citigroup Foundation announced a one-year grant for $745,000 to expand the program to six new locations - Philadelphia, Stamford, Long Island, Baltimore, New Orleans, and St. Louis.
 
In November 2005, Citigroup received the “Corporate Leadership Award” during NUL’s Equal Opportunity Day Awards Dinner in recognition of Citigroup’s vision, achievements, leadership and continued commitment to equal opportunity.
 
Citigroup also supports NUL’s Hurricane Katrina relief efforts, Annual Conference, Legislative Policy Conference, Day of Service and Annual Equal Opportunity Day Awards.
