CitiFinancial Receives Business Recognition Award for Outstanding Community Service
Baltimore, Md. The Greater Baltimore Committee and the Baltimore Development Corporation on December 15 presented CitiFinancial with the prestigious Mayor's Business Recognition Award for its support of the Lakewood Elementary School renovation project. Over the summer CitiFinancial, a member of Citigroup, provided more than 100 volunteers to renovate the school, an effort that included painting its entire interior. In addition, funding from CitiFinancial provided new windows for the school and new playground equipment for the students.
On behalf of the more than 1,000 CitiFinancial employees in the Baltimore area, I am proud to accept this award, said Harry D. Goff, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of CitiFinancial. At CitiFinancial, we are committed to making communities better where we work and live. We will continue to support the Baltimore community through our volunteer efforts and grants to improve the lives of our neighbours in this great city.
Baltimore Mayor and Maryland Governor-Elect Martin O'Malley presented the award to Mary Louise Preis, Director of Community Relations for CitiFinancial.
As part of their commitment to the Baltimore Homeownership Coalition, CitiFinancial and Citigroup also provided $75,000 this year to support the expansion of homeownership counseling at the St. Ambrose Housing Aid Center. CitiFinancial, a charter member of the Coalition, led the effort to introduce a foreclosure hotline that provides consumers with immediate assistance from trained counselors. CitiFinancial also supports the Mayor's Financial Education forum, Money Power Day, and numerous financial education programs in the Baltimore community.
